ABOUT ME

Justin graduated from Pacific Union College, where he studied Film and Business Administration with a Marketing emphasis. While in college, he worked for David Permut (Face/Off, Hacksaw Ridge) and Present Pictures (The Perfect Family, Preservation). His Senior year, he produced the short film, Heaven, which took home the award for the school’s Best Senior Thesis.

 

Justin served as a production coordinator for the IMAX documentary, Napa Valley Dreams, and post-production coordinator for the Tribeca documentary CHECK IT.  His first feature documentary, Hamtramck, USA explored life and democracy in America's first Muslim majority city. The film premiered at SXSW 2020, broadcast on America Reframed, distributed by Grasshopper Films, and is a part of USC's School of Cinematic Arts and the US State Department's American Film Showcase. As a part of the program, he conducted a 3 day workshop in Kazakhstan with filmmakers throughout Central Asia. 

 

In addition to his work in documentary filmmaking, he currently creates video content for nonprofits and small businesses throughout the DC area. 

 

Justin's work has been supported by Ford Foundation's JustFilms, Center for Asian American Media (CAAM), Islamic Scholarship Fund (ISF), The Yip Harburg Foundation, Doha Debates. He is a member of The Video Consortium.
